Up until February 2013 I served as a civilian educator working full-time for the US Army. But I was also running my wire jewelry business during evenings and on the weekends since mid 2009. In December 2012, I made the scary and exciting decision to drop my professional career so I could focus on my passion.
I am a wire artisan, who not only makes jewelry but who also photographs jewelry, edits all of the photos, writes product descriptions, manages an online shop, uses social networking to promote the shop, and who starting in May 2013 runs open studio hours Thursday through Sunday until the end of October. In the Winter months I will open my studio to the public by appointment.
I create each item of jewelry with my own hands, and a few simple tools. I am self-trained in traditional cold connection wire working techniques and use neither glue nor solder. I like to work with copper, .925 sterling silver, .930 argentium silver, and .999 fine silver wire as well as stainless steel and titanium on occasion. I create with semi-precious and precious gemstone beads, metal beads, freshwater pearls, popular minerals and stones, glass beads, and random found items.
My most popular specialty lies in building lockable collars, cuffs and shackles that look like beautiful jewelry anyone would want to wear. Yet these items hold special meaning for the Master or Mistress and his/her submissive mate. |
